Persis Akosua Yentumi is a graduate of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana with a first degree in Biomedical Sciences. A passionate and dedicated young lady who is always ready to serve, learn and lead. The Biomedical Science program exposed her to the dynamic nature and fundamental principles of science. During her second year, she had the honor of being elected as the class secretary, where she actively participated in a seven-member committee representing her class at departmental levels, she held this position from 2019 to 2022. She served as a group leader in most laboratory practical sessions where she showed valuable leadership skills with effective communication.
In her second year, she participated in a quiz in celebration of World Anatomy Day where she emerged the winner. This earned her the moniker “Anatomy goddess”. Through her dedication, effective time management, and hardworking nature, she earned recognition as one of the best female students with first-class in both levels 200 and 400.
In addition to her academic achievements, she leveraged her entrepreneurial skills to transform a fashion business into a successful venture focused on bead-making and selling various fashion products. This endeavor led to her recognition as the first runner-up for the Student Entrepreneur of the Year 2021/2022.
Persis Akosua Yentumi serves as a volunteer and member of the Youth Action Movement in Ghana (YAM) under Planned Parenthood Association Ghana (PPAG). She is a youth champion and an advocate for Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights. She joined the society in January 2022 and since then has been actively participating in various outreaches. She has participated in outreaches such as the community outreach on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in Kaneshie and Kwaprow, and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) sensitization at various places, one of which was at the Chalewote festival.
She served as a volunteer for the All African Diasporan Education Summit 2022, at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. She volunteered for a medical outreach organized by Apex health insurance which occurred throughout the month of February 2023. She was part of the medical team where she carried out various medical tests to aid in data collection.
In February 2023, she joined the Internet Society, Ghana chapter, and has been an active member. In March 2023, she got accepted into the 4th Cohort of the Ghana School on Internet Governance (GhanaSIG) where she received the necessary training on Internet Governance. She served as the female representative of the class of the 2023 GhanaSIG fellowship.
